Interested in growing American ginseng and exploring the possibilities of forest farming? Join us for a hands-on workshop at The Learning Farm to learn the fundamentals of planting and managing American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) in a woodland environment. No previous experience with ginseng cultivation is necessary.

American ginseng is a valuable native forest plant with a long history of medicinal use and potential as a specialty crop for farmers and woodland owners. Growing ginseng requires patience, careful site selection, and an understanding of forest ecology. When thoughtfully managed, forest farming can offer opportunities to diversify farm income while supporting healthy woodland ecosystems.

During this interactive workshop, participants will explore suitable growing conditions for American ginseng and gain practical experience with planting techniques and early-stage management. We will discuss how to work with natural forest conditions, protect young plants, and establish a productive forest farming system.
