The Equitable and Edible Program & Farm School

Bridging Communities Through Education and Sustainable Agriculture

In partnership with Enfield Elementary School in the Ithaca City School District and supported by the Park Foundation:

Our initiative is dedicated to fostering a deeper connection between communities, healthy food, and the land. We are committed to co-creating a comprehensive, hands-on curriculum that emphasizes sustainable living through agriculture and culinary arts and is fully integrated into the Enfield Elementary School curriculum.

Our Program Focuses On:

  • Hands-On Curriculum Development: Crafting educational experiences that include growing food, multicultural cooking, eating practices, and embracing ancient, indigenous, and traditional farming techniques. We are dedicated to biodiversity conservation on farms and responsible animal husbandry.

  • Promotion of Healthy Eating and Living: Developing a school culture plan that encourages students and the community to embrace new foods, bring these foods into their homes, and explore cooking as a fun, family activity. Our goal is to create an inclusive environment that promotes health and wellbeing.

  • Community Building: Creating a vibrant community centered around the principles of healthy food and sustainable land use. We believe in connecting people through shared experiences in agriculture and cooking, fostering relationships that extend beyond the classroom.

  • Educator Support and Training: Providing comprehensive training for educators on anti-racism in food systems, alongside its intersection with regenerative and cooperative agriculture. We engage educators in a collaborative learning process, tailoring our curriculum to the specific needs and interests of teachers and students.

Our Partnership and Support:

Working closely with the Enfield Elementary School and the broader Ithaca City School District, our program is a testament to the power of collaboration. Supported by the Park Foundation, we leverage resources, expertise, and passion to create an educational experience that not only teaches but transforms.

Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion:

Understanding the critical intersection of food systems, agriculture, and social justice, our program prioritizes anti-racism training and education. We strive to create a curriculum that reflects the diverse cultures and traditions of our community, promoting an inclusive environment for all participants.

Join Us:

We invite educators, students, and community members to join us in this journey towards a more equitable and edible future. Together, we can cultivate a culture of sustainability, health, and inclusivity for generations to come.
